Your Golf Game has not launched. This document was written from what the software actually does — the data it stores, the services it sends data to, the controls it offers — so that it is accurate rather than boilerplate. It has not had legal review, and it should not be relied on as a binding agreement by anyone, including us, until it has.
What we collect
Everything below is something the app actually stores. Nothing here is aspirational.
Your account
- Name, username, email address and password.
- A phone number, only if you give one. It is used to text you an invitation to a Round Day.
Your profile
- Bio, avatar, home course, preferred tees.
- Your club or GHIN handicap index and GHIN number, if you enter them. These are shown for reference and are never used to score anything.
- A club-fitting profile: height, wrist-to-floor, driver speed, handedness, grip and glove size.
- Your profile visibility setting — public, friends only, or private.
Your golf
- Rounds, scores hole by hole, putts, penalties and fairways hit.
- Individual shots and which club you used, when you record them.
- The clubs and equipment you own, and anything you list for sale or trade.
- A computed handicap index and the history of how it changed.
Where you are
- Your browser's location, only when you use a "near me" feature and only for as long as that page is open. We do not store it.
- Which courses you play. Courses themselves have fixed coordinates; that is course data, not yours.
Payments
- Card payments are handled by Stripe. Card numbers never reach our servers and we never store them.
- We store what you bought, the amount, and Stripe's identifiers for the transaction, so that a receipt and a refund are possible.
Other people
- Friends, golfers and courses you follow, and the courses you manage.
- Messages you send, and notifications generated for you.
- For school golf: team membership, and the link between a guardian and an athlete.
Who can see it
Your profile visibility setting is the control. Set to public, your profile, rounds, bag and locker can be seen by anyone, including people who are not signed in. Set to friends only, only golfers you are friends with. Set to private, only you.
Some things are public regardless, because the feature does not work otherwise, and you should know which:
- School golf rosters, schedules and match results. A team roster names its athletes publicly. Individual athlete pages follow your visibility setting.
- Group rounds. Everyone on a shared scorecard can see every score on it.
- League and event standings you take part in.
- Contributions to course data — corrections you suggest are attributed.
We do not show your email address to other golfers anywhere in the app.
Who we send it to
- Stripe — card payments, and the onboarding of courses that take them.
- An SMS provider — only to deliver a Round Day invitation to a phone number you or an organiser supplied.
- An email provider — account email, invitations, and the notifications you have not turned off.
- OpenStreetMap — we read course geometry from it. We do not send your data there.
We do not sell your data, and there is no advertising or third-party analytics in this app.
Children and school golf
This app supports high-school golf, so some golfers are minors. We ask for your date of birth when you create an account. Only you see it, and we never show it on your profile or to other golfers; site administrators see only age ranges. You need to be 13 or older to create your own account. A guardian link is still something set up after an account exists rather than a consent step before it. A team roster is public. An athlete's own page follows their profile visibility setting.
If you are a parent or guardian and want an athlete's data removed, contact us and we will remove it.
Your controls
- Change your profile visibility at any time under Account.
- Edit or delete your rounds, gear and profile.
- Delete your account, from the bottom of the Account page. This removes your rounds, messages, gear and profile.
One gap worth stating plainly rather than hiding: there is not yet a per-type switch for notification emails. Every kind of notification that emails, emails. This is known and is being fixed.
